The official explanation for the Beirut explosion is that fireworks caused explosion of ammonium nitrate.
Beirut Explosion; Bomb Maker’s Delight? has been revised to express my skepticism of this explanation, based upon:
- Lack of support in technical literature for fireworks as an initiator.
- The requirements of an explanation acceptable to Lebanese politics.
